The summer is finally here! People all over the country are already settling into their summer mode. For many people, this means vacations and time on the beach. For others, however, it means that moving day is fast approaching. Summertime is a great time for moving, especially if you are planning on using a moving truck rental. There are certain things that you need to remember when you are moving this summer if you want to stay healthy. After you have the moving truck rental rates in hand, and the boxes in your house, keep these tips in mind for your summer move.
1. Stay Hydrated: Water is one of the most important things that you can remember when you plan on doing anything out in the hot sun. The summer can be brutal to people, especially if you are not used to working out in the heat. Make sure that you drink enough water to keep yourself in good shape throughout the duration. Avoid soda and other sugary drinks so that you are not further dehydrated.
2. Have a Buddy: Another important thing to remember when you are moving with a truck rental is that you are going to need help. Do not plan on moving and loading everything that you own into the truck by yourself. You will need assistance, so make sure that you line up some help well in advance of moving day. Don’t forget to offer something in return, even if it is only dinner and some beer.
3. Protect Your Things: Heat can have a bad effect on many things that you might not think about. It is vital that you protect your things while you are packing so that nothing melts or is damaged because the heat warps it. Make sure that you keep easily damaged things in a car with air conditioning, as the back of a truck can get almost twenty degrees hotter inside than the temperature outside.
4. Take Breaks: Make sure that you schedule enough time throughout the moving process to take breaks when you need them. It is important that you do not wear yourself or your help out as the risk for heat stroke and heat exhaustion rise dramatically in the summer. Taking breaks will help you stay alert and on top of the whole day.
5. Be Aware: If you plan on moving during one of the summer months, make sure that you are aware of the issues that heat can have on the human body. Especially if you have help, make sure that you know the signs and symptoms of heat related illnesses so that you can act fast if something should go wrong. Keep emergency numbers handy and water close by.
As you can see, the summer presents a unique challenge to anyone who is moving during these popular months. It is not impossible to move at this time of the year, as long as you keep these tips in mind and stay aware of your surroundings. Make your move simple by planning ahead for these things before moving day arrives.
